Student Privacy
North Central State College has the responsibility of protecting the content of a student’s educational record. Educational records are defined as those records, files, documents and other materials which contain information directly related to the student and are maintained by the College. For further information regarding how North Central State College protects educational records and your rights regarding these records, see the following link (PDF).
The College does define some information as directory information which may be released to others without direct student consent. In addition, the Solomon Amendment (10 U.S.C. §503) allows military organizations access to records and information for the purposes of military recruiting. The College identifies directory information and that which is accessible to the military as: name, address, phone number, email, date and place of birth, major, dates of enrollment, enrollment status, participation in officially recognized activities, degrees/certificates and awards received, high school graduated from, most recent previous educational agency or institution attended by the student.
Students do have the right to restrict the release and publication of this directory information by filing a written request to withhold directory information with the Office of Student Records. Upon receipt of this request, no directory information will be released and will continue to be withheld until such time the student notifies the Office of Student Records in writing that he/she no longer wishes to have this information withheld. Students may complete this form at any time, but to ensure no information is released for any pending requests, students have one week from the time of this notice to submit a completed form to Student Records.
