Robotics Training
Workforce Interest Form
North Central State College offers training courses for both FANUC and Yaskawa Motoman Robotics. Both introductory courses are 40 hours in length and cover the basic programming, operation, interfacing, and troubleshooting associated with either the Fanuc LR Mate robot, or the Yaskawa Motoman FS100 robot. Topics covered include coordinate systems, mastering the robot, teach pendant functions, and motion programming.
Introduction to Robotics
-
Course Outcomes
Candidates will be able to describe and demonstrate:
- Proper power-up and shut-down of the Fanuc robotic system. Re-enforce all safety aspects related to the operation of the robotic cell.
- The components of the robotic cell
- Teach pendant functions and controls including the dead-man, function keys, quick and full menu keys and motion keys
- Coordinate systems used within the Fanuc robot, including JOINT, WORLD, TOOL, USER, and JGFRAME
- Jogging the robot, positional status, robot axis limits and mastering the Fanuc robot
- Error and fault recovery, singularity, motion limits and overtravel
- Further knowledge of tool frames, including selecting a tool frame, jogging in a tool frame and defining a user frame
- Motion programming, including creating a program, altering a program, recording and touching up positions, and testing a program. Students will also single step a program, allow for continuous movement testing and abort a program.
- Motion instructions including motion types, position indicators, position types, speeds, and motion options
- Copying and editing of programs
- Branching within a program using such commands as JUMP, CALL, SELECT, and WAIT
- Instructions and position registers and use of miscellaneous instructions within a program
- Inputs and outputs used within a Fanuc robotic program
- Macros as used within a program
- The use of program and file manipulation
-
Course Outcomes
Candidates will be able to describe and demonstrate:
- The programming teach pendant, including the keys, display areas, main menus, various modes of operation, and modes of security
- The coordinate systems and how they operate within the Motoman system and utilize coordinate systems, such as Joint, Cartesian, Cylindrical, Tool, User, and Control point operations
- Teaching the Motoman robot, including preparation for teaching, registering a job, editing local variables, and searching within a program
- Stop and Restart of the robotic system utilizing the E-Stop, pause instruction, and by alarm
- Modifying play speeds, playback and hold operations
- Editing jobs, deleting jobs, modifying job names, and enabling the modification of position data only
- Convenient functions, such as parallel shift, mirror shift, multi-window, and simple menu function
- External memory devices used within the Motoman robotic system, including Compact flash (CF) and USB memory stick
- Parameter configurations, motion speed, mode operation, interference area, status, and Coordinated or Synchronizing parameters
- General purpose applications, including simplified teaching and playback, operation for tool control, and work instructions
