SUMMARY:Meditation
DESCRIPTION:Meditation is a journey of self-inquiry. It is a practice that transforms one’s mind through concentrated focus or attention\, in order to deepen sense of self\, develop awareness within\, and observe patterns or habits of the mind. With consistent practice\, one will cultivate equanimity\, emotional resilience\, and a positive state of being. The purpose of this class is to introduce various techniques and methods to help facilitate this process of reflection within and to assist in developing one’s own practice at home. Techniques and methods to explore include breath awareness\, basic breathing techniques (pranayama)\, body sensation\, focused gaze\, mindfulness\, movement\, visualization\, iRest meditations and more. The instructor is Laura Gibson and the class is held in 217 Eisenhower Hall. \nSupplies to bring: Pillow\, throw blanket(s)\, yoga mat\, blocks. Some blankets and blocks will be provided\, but on a first come\, first serve basis. This class is open to all students with various experience with meditation and is beginner friendly.

DESCRIPTION:The National Society of Leadership and Success is excited to announce the first guest speaker for the Fall 2018 Speaker Broadcast season. Mehmet Oz\, better known as Dr. Oz\, is an Emmy-winning television personality\, cardiothoracic surgeon\, and six-time New York best-selling author. HealthCorps is a national not for profit founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Lisa Oz\, which gives teens tools to improve physical and mental health so they can learn to live more productive and happier lives. Founded in 2003\, HealthCorps’ mission is to strengthen communities with the most innovative approaches to health and wellness to help the next generation be more resilient\, both mentally and physically. HealthCorps students exercise more\, eat better\, and practice positive thought\,.Students interact with the speakers via Twitter and Facebook during the broadcast. The event is open to all students\, members and non-members\, and community guests. No ticket is required to attend.
