Choose Ohio First Scholarships
The Choose Ohio First Scholarship is designed to significantly strengthen Ohio’s competitiveness within STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Medicine) disciplines and STEMM education.*
Awards range from $1,500 and $3,000 per two-semester academic year. The amount awarded is based primarily on the number of credit hours in which a scholar is enrolled, however factors such as other aid awarded to the scholar may also be considered. Unlike many scholarships – this one can help with lab fees.
The scholar is a first year, first time at NCSC student, which is one who has either: Never enrolled at the college other than for CCP or similar courses taken prior to high school graduation, and has a 2.5 cumulative high school grade average.
Scholars must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Should a scholar’s cumulative GPA be between 2.5 and 2.9 at the end of a semester, the scholar must participate in remediation activities prescribed by the College during the following semester. Should the scholar’s cumulative GPA be below the required 2.5 at the end of his/her semester of remediation, his/her eligibility for COF will cease.
Choose Ohio First funds higher education and business collaborations that will have the most impact on Ohio’s position in world markets such as aerospace, medicine, computer technology and alternative energy. These collaborations will ultimately produce substantive improvements to the pipeline of STEMM graduates and STEMM educators in Ohio. Choose Ohio First is part of a strategic effort to bolster Ohio’s economic strength by ensuring a ready workforce for STEMM-Related industries.*
